Director Bruce Rogers is retiring!

Over the past 30 years, Bruce has contributed his time, passion, and dedication to elevating Mt. SAC’s vocal students to the highest levels of achievement.

Just a few of the many accomplishments of Rogers’ impressive career include:

  • #1 Most Impressive College Choir: Mt. San Antonio College Chamber Singers and Singcopation earning first place in College Rank’s article, “20 Most Impressive College Choirs.” College Rank proclaimed, “To say the Mt. San Antonio choirs are impressive is an understatement. This community college boasts one of the most decorated choir programs in the United States.”

  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Bruce Rogers was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Collegiate Choral Organization at their national conference in November at Morehouse College in Atlanta. 

  • ACDA Performance: The Chamber Singers performed at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conference in Cincinnati for thousands of choral directors.  They were chosen from hundreds of colleges and universities who applied to perform. This was their 14th ACDA performance in 28 years, more than any other choir in the world. Unprecedented!

  • Represented U.S. in the international Spittal Choral Competition: The Chamber Singers were chosen to represent the United States at the Spittal Choral Competition in Austria. There were 10 choirs chosen to compete from 10 different countries:  United States, Switzerland, Macedonia, Indonesia, Austria, Poland, Canary Islands, Slovenia, Thailand, and Ukraine. The Chamber Singers won first place in the Overall Classical Category and second place in the Folksong Category.

  • Best Vocal Jazz Group: Singcopation won the 2023 Downbeat Magazine Award for the “Best Two-Year College Vocal Jazz Group” in the United States. Singcopation has won a Downbeat Magazine student award 18 out of the past 22 years. Unprecedented!

In honor of his service, the Mt. SAC Foundation, the Arts Division, family, friends, and alumni are establishing a scholarship worthy of Bruce Rogers’ legacy. The goal is to raise $37,500 to endow a scholarship and name the choral room 2T-108 for Rogers. Please use the form below to support the Bruce Rogers Naming Fund.
