What We Do

Inspiring connections.
Elevating success.

Our Purpose

In tandem with the College's mission, the Mt. SAC Foundation and Alumni Association elevates the Mt. SAC experience by engaging the extended community, supporting programs and scholarships, and adding value wherever we can so that together, we all reach new heights.

Mission Statement

The Mt. San Antonio College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that mobilizes financial and non-financial resources to support Mt. SAC College programs that enrich students’ learning environment and educational experience beyond those achievable through regular funding sources.

We do this by...

‣ raising awareness and funds for campus programs and scholarships

supporting and encouraging diverse groups of students and alumni

‣ building relationships and representing Mt. SAC throughout Southern California

recognizing students, donors, and the community

increasing access to knowledge, resources, and campus community members

encouraging individuals and organizations to include Mt. SAC in their philanthropy

$165,000 to the Mt. SAC Agriculture Program

Last Spring, The Orange County Farm Bureau (OCFB) donated $165,000 to the Mt. SAC Agriculture Program, enabling the college to provide scholarships for agriculture students and build an endowment for the Agriculture Department's student ambassadors program.

Students who serve as ambassadors gain valuable experience working as part of a team and interacting with the public and college leadership. Agriculture Ambassadors also visit area high schools to share information about Mt. SAC's wide range of offerings with students who have a passion for agriculture.

The OCFB's program endowment is the very first of its kind at Mt. SAC.

Reach for the Stars

This program is funded by a $5,000 annual gift from Edison International and community members and brings area students to the Randall Planetarium and Observatory. The funding makes the experience free for these third and fifth graders from low-income school districts.

In August 2017, the Mt. SAC Foundation and Alumni Association collaborated with the college's solar eclipse viewing party by distributing glasses and collecting a $1 suggested donation. More than $2,800 was raised and just that amount will enable five classes to participate in Reach for the Stars.

Funds for dreamers

The Mt. SAC family rallied to support the college's undocumented students, following dramatic changes to the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2017.

Nearly $15,000 was raised within weeks to help students known as "Dreamers" pay to renew DACA paperwork. Mt. SAC has approximately 3,000 Dreamers, and of those, more than 50 percent are eligible for DACA.

$208,000 Raised at 33rd annual Golf classic

Thanks to the hard work of dozens of staff, students, volunteers, and sponsors, the tournament raised more than $208,000! Proceeds help fund the Mt. SAC Athletics program and provide essential operational resources for the Foundation and Alumni Association.

New Scholarships

2024-2025

Applying for a Scholarship

Scholarships are available to Mt. SAC students for a variety of purposes and from a variety of sources. To apply for a scholarship, or learn more about the process, visit the Mt. SAC Scholarship Program Office online.

Creating a Named Scholarship

Creating a memorial scholarship is a wonderful way to remember a loved one and create a meaningful legacy. In addition to honoring your loved one, the memorial scholarship will provide much-needed support to a student in the area of your choosing. To learn more, click through our frequently asked questions below, or Contact the Foundation office.

+ How does it work?

After one or more donors have provided the minimum funds, our scholarship team will work with you to determine the criteria for the scholarship. We will announce the scholarship and facilitate the application process. Based on your criteria, our existing scholarship committee will review applications and select the recipient/s, who will be announced at the annual scholarship ceremony in June. You will be notified of the winner and, if additional funds are raised, we will continue to notify you and work with you to either increase the scholarship amount or award additional scholarships as appropriate.

+ HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO DONATE?

A new scholarship requires a gift of $1,500 to start with. This can be a one-time gift from a single donor, or can be raised through multiple gifts from multiple donors. To continue the legacy, we suggest a gift of $7,500 to cover at least one $1,500 scholarship per year over the next 5 years. Either way, we can get started after the initial $1,500 gift is received.

+ HOW IS THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED?

Once the minimum gift has been made, the family can set the criteria for the award. Potential criteria include: a GPA requirement, a required number of enrolled hours, membership in a specific club or program, and/or working toward a degree in a specified field.

After the criteria is determined the scholarship committee will select the recipient. Criteria must be finalized by mid-February for applications to be submitted in April and to award the scholarship in June.

Donors may request annual updates on how much was raised and awarded scholarships.
