Dr. Barbara Nakaoka
Retired superintendent
Bio
I am now serving on three Foundation Boards, teaching a Doctoral class, consulting and volunteering. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I attended the University of Southern California and attained my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees there. I started teaching at Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, was a Principal there and worked in Human Resources and Instruction before becoming Superintendent at HLPUSD. I retired after working 43 years in the same District.
Why Mt. SAC?
I experienced as a Cabinet Member and Superintendent Mt. SAC’s outreach and wanting to help high schools and high school students. I chose to serve on the Foundation Board as Mt. SAC has given students hope and opportunity to move forward through the work of the staff and the various specific programs answering their current needs.
